Hey Glarien fans,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I wanted to pop in and give you a quick rundown on where we are with all things Glarien and Thane.
First, I wanted to apologize that we haven’t gotten the surveys out yet. I’m on the road with the family at the moment and finalizing the Backerkit survey from an IPad is a bit more challenging than I thought. Hopefully I can get that done soon, if not, I’ll have it sent out when I return home to the main work station in early July.
But more importantly, the book itself is deep into production. Tina’s pencil art on Glarien and Thane Volume 2 continues to hit terrifyingly insane marks for detail, and stunning line work.
Tina did have to take a short break from Glarien and Thane last month to…
… have HER FIRST BABY!!!
So HUGE congrats to Tina. If you check out her instagram, you can occasionally see reels of her and the baby working alongside each other making the book (To be clear, Tina’s doing the art while her baby is providing moral support).
I took the short hiatus as an opportunity to do another pass on the script and expand it a smidge. So rather than the 56 page book you were promised, you’ll now be getting a 60+ page volume.
Between the script expansion and the short baby break, that will push art completion back a little over a month until the end of August. We apologize for the short delay, but the final book will be more than worth it. Promise.
In other White Ash Comics News, we’re excited to announce that on July 13th we’ll be back on Kickstarter with The Game Volume One Hardcover containing the full first arc of the series and an all-new bonus story exploring the origin of the man we know as “Paul.”
If you’re new to what we do, or have never had a chance to check out our other series, The Game is the story of the down on his luck Eli, who on his thirtieth birthday is told he's Player Number 3 in a game that's been going for over a thousand years. And that he needs to figure out the rules pretty quick if he wants to survive.
Think Quantum Leap, if Sam happened to jump into the body of The Highlander, and then got dragged into a sexy noir thriller.

And while The Game isn’t part of the White Ash and Glarien saga, it IS in the same larger universe. And we want to give it the same high-end treatment we’ve give those series collections.

Hello Glarien and White Ash Fans,
Thank you SO MUCH for helping us cross that finish line for the 26th time. Kickstarter continues to be the best place in the world to bring our comics to life and find the people who love them.
If you’ve been with us before, you know we like to provide a roadmap for the production and delivery timeline going forward. But before we dive into The When, we wanted to shout out to The Who -- the incredible artists who brought this campaign to life. Here are the links to the social media profiles of those joining us on this issue, if you’d like to get to know any of them better and give them a follow.
Also, with the current ever-changing nature of social media, if you like the kind of books we put out, I’d suggest giving me (Charlie) a follow on Kickstarter or joining our mailing list. That way, you'll be sure to know when we're going to drop something new. And don't worry, we don't spam our backers with the mailing list. We only send out one (maybe two when we have a KS live) blast a month.
NOTE: We use Kickstarter hidden reward tiers to offer special discounts through our mailing list to our subscribers. These are always the cheapest ways to get our books. So if you haven't signed up before... now's the time.
But back to Glarien & Thane and what's next. Here's the schedule of things going forward.
Week One — Taking care of business. Kickstarter collects fees and backers who may have forgotten that their credit card has expired/was stolen/was maxed out on See's Candy V-Day Samplers that you really were planning on giving to someone but ate in the car ride home, will be given a chance to update it. PLEASE CHECK and see if you're one of the 25 backers who have a notification from KS. ALL CARDS need to be resolved by TOMORROW (Tuesday) NIGHT.
(NOTE: If you're having financial difficulties, we understand. Kickstarter only gives a one-week window to resolve your card issues. If you need more time, message us. You’ll be able to resolve your card issues post-campaign in Backerkit.)
Week Three-ish - Tell Us What We Need To Know (around May 19th) — As soon as Kickstarter has finalized the backer list, we’ll send out our Surveys. Please fill these out as quickly as possible. Our plan is to start fulfilling the digital catch-up rewards by early next month.
Week Five-ish - Here Come the Catch-up Digital Goods (around June 5th) — Once we have all the surveys back and we have your emails and addresses in hand, we'll send out all the PDF’s that are finished. (Which will be everything but Glarien & Thane Volume 2)
After that, we’ll keep you posted. As of now, everything is on track for a July delivery of the PDF's for Glarien & Thane. Tina is working away on the pages, and they look terrific. Physical fulfillment is set to begin in August when the books get back from the printer. That said, if we hit any delays, we'll make sure that you're kept firmly in the loop.
